Hospitality industry groups, including Golden Gate Restaurant Association, are hosting a week-long fundraising event in the week leading up to Thanksgiving to raise donations for those affected by the North Bay fires. The goal of Chefsgiving is to raise $1 million. More than 100 restaurants, delis, bakeries and wineries will be donating $100 per guest/item to relief efforts. The ways they do so can range from special menus (a la Restaurant Week) to ticketed events to a portion of sales of a certain item.

The plan, via Golden Gate Restaurant Association:

In the week prior to Thanksgiving, from Monday-Sunday, Nov. 13-19, 2017, 100 San Francisco restaurants/delis/bakeries will host fundraisers in their restaurants to support the relief efforts

• Restaurants will host stand-alone events (similar to Restaurant Week), in which $100/guest will be donated to the cause. The format is meant to be flexible, so that it can work for as many restaurants as possible. (If $100/guest is too high for your restaurant, we would still love to include you.)

Examples include:

• A special menu for a day or the week with $100/person being donated to relief efforts

• Ticketed events where $100/ticket will be donated to relief efforts

• For fast casual restaurants, a single menu items' proceeds may be donated to relief efforts
