Overview
Prawn Pasadena's little sister concept, Prawn at Grand Central Market, is one of Downtowners' favorite destination to grab a delicious, healthy meal for lunch, or gather with friends for happy hour. Aesthetically, the counter-service restaurant is an ode to the history of the iconic Los Angeles covered market, while bringing a fresh new perspective, colors and vibe to the 1917 building. We work with Mark Peel and his team to adapt the full restaurant's innovative concept and design to a more casual, pick-up friendly concept, in the heart of the uniquely bustling, loud, colorful environment. Of course, visual cues from the mother brand were preserved, incorporating teal, fish scale details and marine tiling into the slightly retro overall design typical of Grand Central. Prawn's 5 ft tall round neon sign, the largest inside the market, is to this day a beacon for quality seafood at an affordable price, for all Angeleños to enjoy.
